This trip requires drivers willing to travel on gravel roads. The coordinator reserves the right to add people from the wait-list according to who is willing to drive. From Highway 1, we will take Sibbald Creek Trail and then Powder Face Trail (gravel) to the north trail-head at Lusk Pass. The participants will be dropped off here and the drivers will take the cars to Cannyon Creek parking lot, where our hike will end. The drivers will return to the group in one vehicle and begin the hike.

According to Gillean Daffern’s Trail Guide this is an easy ridge walk along the entire summit ridge of JP Mountain. Easy perhaps after the zig-zagging elevation gain at the beginning. On the north ridge we’ll enjoy views of Cox Hill and Moose Mountain; the south ridge we’ll see Nihahi and Compression Ridges. A little more than half way, the trail passes 50 vertical meters below the summit of JP Mountain, and a trip to the top is a must. This is likely where we will enjoy lunch if participants can last that long. We’ll continue along the south ridge to the end where the cars are parked and then drive back to get the one remaining car.

Please note that your event coordinator has not done this hike before. Allow time/patience for unforeseen circumstances. Do not plan for an early return in case we are delayed :)
