Please read the event description and in particular the note regarding the bus shuttle reservation at Sunshine.

This is an EXPLORATORY trip as the co- ordinator has never done this hike before so please bring your patience and adventure spirit.

Prior to the event, you must book your shuttle return ticket to go from the Sunshine parking lot to Sunshine Village to be guaranteed a seat on the 09h00 shuttle. Refer to instructions below.

The trip to Citadel Pass is a beautiful outing through high alpine meadows. This hike is rated as a PREMIER hike in the book entitled "Don't waste your time in the Rockies". Perfect place for a birthday celebration! The hike also provides fantastic views of Mt Assiniboine.

The hike will start and finish at Sunshine Village. We will take the SHUTTLE BUS from the Sunshine gondola station parking lot, up to Sunshine Village, and will also return from the Village to the parking lot, by shuttle. We will need to keep at least a moderate hiking pace. There are return shuttles every 30 minutes until 17h30 and then a final shuttle at 18h30.

Please bring some money to cover the cost of the shuttle bus in addition to the normal carpool expense and park pass. The cost for the shuttle is $29.00/return.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE PURCHASE THE SHUTTLE TICKET AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.
Instructions are as follows:
- You can book your return shuttle ticket by calling the Sunshine Meadows ticket office at (403) 762 7889. Cost of the ticket is $29. They informed the co-ordinator that there is a second bus at 09h00 so be persistent when you call them if you do not get through straight away. No need to try to book online as it will show "sold out" for the first shuttle bus. Please call them instead to get a seat on the second bus.
- Book the 09h00 shuttle for July 18 and note that there is no need to book the return time as it is on a first come and first serve basis
- Send a note to the co-ordinator once you have purchased your ticket as the number of seats on the shuttle bus is limited
- If the event the weather forecast turns to rain, the co-ordinator would reschedule the event as the tickets can be changed to a different date & time. Should you wish to cancel the ticket completely, you can do so anytime up to 24 hours prior to your booked shuttle. You will receive a full refund less $5 per person cancellation booking fee

To Sunshine: Head west on the Trans Canada, 8kms west of Banff, exit right onto the Sunshine access road, which is clearly posted from the Highway. Drive up to the end of the Sunshine access road to the main parking lot.

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $90.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Thursday, April 18, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
