Itinerary:

We will go traipsing around Bluerock Wildland Provincial Park. No fixed route, a lot of it may be exploratory. Its all front country hills. Be prepared to spend 3-4 hours or more outside for snowshoeing activities. Our pace will be easy but not slowpoke. After the event, we'll stop over in Black Diamond for a late lunch.
Distance: Approx 6-10k (or 4 hours whichever is earlier)
Elevation: Approx 200m

Notes:
1) We will be going regardless of weather conditions.
2) Be prepared to stick together as a group. If you need/want to get back early, this trip is not for you.
3) This is a have lots of fun, anything goes, possible last minute change of plan/route, fly by the seat of your pants event. If you're uptight about stuff, might not be the event for you.

Note: All outdoor snowshoeing activities will take place outside of avalanche terrain.

- Snowshoes and poles
- Waterproof boots
- Extra set of dry shoes and socks
- Snow worthy warm clothing layers
- Water
- Snacks/food
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Personal first aid kit
- $$ for carpool costs, meals and personal items
- Spare change of clothing
- Bag for wet and dirty items

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Get to south Calgary and take Hwy 22x to the Millarville Hwy 22 turn off. Head south to Turner Valley. Once you get to the stop sign in Turner Valley turn right and go west. After approx 20km there will be a closed winter gate. Park in the campground parking lot to the left. Do not park in front of the winter gate.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $39.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Tuesday, April 16, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Terrain Classification: This event is in unrated front country terrain but on official snowshoe trails. There is no avalanche terrain in the area being travelled. At no time will we be going into avalanche terrain however the current forecast as on 9 Feb 2018 for Sunday 12 Feb 2018 is:
