The COC Training Program

The objectives of the Calgary Outdoor Club Training Program are to:
   a) provide educational sessions to members;
   b) raise awareness about different aspects of the outdoors
   c) increase the members' safety while enjoying their activities in the mountains    and
   d) provide everyone the opportunity to ask pertinent questions.

SESSION:

This is a paid lesson for beginners conducted by an instructor from Trail Sports at the Canmore Nordic Center.
NOTE: Rental information will be provided below or you are welcome to bring your own equipment. This is a CLASSIC XC SKI lesson. No skate skis, no backcountry skis, no touring skis - only track skis or you will not be able to participate.

This lesson is aimed at people who have previously XC skied but are looking to improve their beginner skills. It is a COC group track ski lesson. Please contact the coordinator directly if you have questions about skill level because the group needs to be at a similar level
Total return distance could vary but possibly around 10km.

Cost of the lesson will depend on the number of people registered:
5 people =$27
4 people =$33.75
3 people =$45
The coordinator will contact waitlist sign ups to request payment for the lesson via email transfer. Trail passes can be purchased from the day lodge on the day.

Trail fees are not included but are $15 adult, or for 55+ years are $11.25
As this is a beginner event it is anticipated that many participants will need to rent equipment. With that in mind below are a couple of suggested rental locations

SUBSIDY AND REBATES: The Calgary Outdoor Club will be subsidizing this lesson and extra rebates will be available. It is hoped that in addition to encouraging members to try something new, by giving further rebates to volunteers, it will encourage them to post more XC ski events in future. The following is offered
Regular members = $5 subsidy
Premier Members = $10 subsidy
Volunteers = $10 subsidy PLUS REBATE
REBATE: Volunteers are eligible for an additional 30% after they have coordinated 3 qualifying XC events within the following year. This will also be applied to members who become volunteers in the next year (have you considered coordinating?). Full details available by contacting the Training Coordinator or event coordinator.

Please only register for this event if you are serious about attending. Unreasonable last minute cancellations (2 hours or less prior to event) and no shows preventing others from attending the event will be recorded. If you are in the habit of cancelling last minute pls do not sign up. Thank you for your consideration for other COC members.
