On Trail/Off-Trail Hike Description:
This event will be going at a relaxed pace. A water crossing is involved right at the beginning, so water-crossing footwear (and towel) are required. We are out to enjoy the day and event duration may vary.

This is a hike in an area where getting there is half the fun. Located near Ya-Ha Tinda Ranch, it is more remote and the Red Deer River crossing deters many people. We're sure to find some solitude away from the weekend crowds.

We will be following the same route that Matt Clay went up last week. Please check out this trip report with photos to ensure that you are comfortable with the terrain and water crossing. We will be going up the southeast ridge, not the bushwhack locations that many trip reports refer to. Our route will be a combination of old fire road (for approximately 300m of elevation gain), followed by hiking up the open grassy slopes of Mount Minos (for approximately another 400m of elevation gain).

Trail Directions:
   · Red Deer River water crossing right after the parking spot
(will stash water crossing stuff in the trees).
   · Follow old road for approximately 3.5km.
   · Beyond the lake, branch off SW to ascend the open slopes.
   · From first summit continue on to second summit.
   · Return the same way.

Costs:
1) COC event fee:
   · $3 COC for Regular Members (bring exact change, payable at carpool).
   · $0 for Premier Members / COC Coordinators
   · You can also purchase a Premier membership the day of the event (bring $25 cash).
2) Carpool Cost:
Cost depends on whether driver takes Forestry Trunk Road or goes via Sundre.
Please bring exact change as drivers do not carry change.
Cost to be split evenly amongst all in a vehicle:

   · 3 people in car = ~$19/person
   · 4 people in car = ~$14/person
   Via Sundre: (280km return)
   · 3 people in car = ~$26/person
   · 4 people in car = ~$20/person
