This will be a lightweight random backcountry overnighter in the beautiful foothills. Views of Mt Rose and Bluerock Mountain at the campsite. Overnight stargazing. Basic backcountry camping at its finest and most basic. Did I say no facilities? No facilities. Mostly well used trails. There will be a few creek crossings, bring your water crossing shoes if you want but nothing major. Will need bear canisters, ursack or do a hang. Plan is for a distance training event. Bring a game, something to share. If you haul in a 6 pack of beer, you might be the most popular person on this trip. Watch for cattle too. Plan is for a relaxing weekend camp. Bring a small backpacking saw if you have one.

Distance: 22km round trip
Elevation: 650m total gain approx.

If we get there early enough, there could be options to do side trips. Adventures R Us! Expect about 3-4 hours to hike in give or take. We may or may not have a fire depending on conditions then.
This is bear country so food prep and storage awareness is important. Have a bear canister, ursack, some super sturdy odour proof container or practice your bear hang.

Itinerary:
SATURDAY – Morning drive out to the trail head, hike in to the site, chill, or explore the local area. Have dinner. Bring a light snack or adult beverages to share. Relaxing weekend.
SUNDAY - After a morning breakfast hike out and head back. Do not be in rush to get back to Calgary, we'll be back late as we'll probably stop over in a town (like Black Diamond) somewhere for a late lunch.

Note:
- NO CARPOOL . Meet at trailhead
- Bring a lightweight pack if you can. The lighter the better.
- You'll need to practice food bear storage with a canister or ursack with odour proof pouch or do a hang.
- This is a fun anything goes event
- This is also a random backcountry camping event. No facilities.
- Speed will be moderate but definitely not for super slowpokes as would want to make camp in a reasonable time.
- It's bear country so you'll really need to practice bear awareness and safety. Bear spray is MANDATORY.

Gear:
You will need your own backpacking gear as we will be tenting separately. Be prepared to be self-sufficient. See link for personal ultralight backpacking gear if you are new to this, but lighter is more. Contact me if you have not backpacked before.
