It's great to live in Calgary! You don't have to travel far to get a quick hike in. Take Moose Moutain fire lookout. It provides a very scenic view on a clear day, whereby the foursome can be seen to the southwest:Banded Peak, Outlaw Peak, Mt. Cornwall and Mt. Glasgow. You'll have many "digital moments". Moose Mountain is located halfway between the prairies and the first range of the Rocky Mountains.

We are planning to have lunch at the summit(where the fire lookout is). Hopefully the sun will be out and the wind light.

Note: Sorry this is not a "slow poke" hike we will be going at a good moderate steady pace.
Pls note:Jeans (THE FABRIC OF DEATH) is strongly discouraged.

Required Items to Bring:
- Good hiking boots as the trail is very rocky. SORRY no runners-Hiking boots required
-Plenty of water
-Lunch
-Dress in layers
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
-Hiking poles
-First aid kit

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Drive south again on Macleod Trail & exit out of town on 22X westbound (Marquis of Lorne). If you drive by Spruce Meadows you know that you're heading in the right direction towards Kananaskis. Highway 22X turns into 22 just before Priddis (keep going west) and eventually turns into 66 (3 km before Bragg Creek). Don't turn toward Bragg Creek but continue heading west on Hwy. 66. About 0.7 km past the Paddy's Flats campground access road, we will turn right onto the Moose Mountain Road. This steep, 7.5 km long gravel road will take us to a small parking area at the trailhead. The road is gated from this point on so you can't miss the parking area.
