I thought I would make this a more nutty affair to up the fun quotient so we are having a mini-themed session this time!! (Seriously? but why so serious?)So as Pirates we shall be boarding and capturing ships at Mchugh's Bluffs aka climbing and clawing at the bluffs Calling all Pirates! - come with your eye patch, wooden leg, plastic or live parrots, tri-cornered hat, cutlasses, real or plastic and jolly rogers flags and we'll have a dastardly good time. We might even have some people walk a plank or two the stairs are rather convenient for that). Slackers will get keel hauled! (well maybe, if you have beer in your pack we'll skip that bit....)
This event is for all levels of fitness. Go at your own pace plus a bit more (for that added challenge!). There are 120 feet (~40m) of McHugh's Bluff to climb up. There are 168 steps up the stairs (works the thighs a lot) and then walk down the path to catch our breath OR speed walk up the path (tightening the buns more) and come down the stairs. Really, really good training for your hikes/backpacking trips to come in summer or just to improve your overall stamina. Better to train (aka suffer) now and enjoy the trip later! In the span of an hour we will complete the circuit oh, maybe about six times with a pack on. More circuits and faster if you're cheating and travelling light... ;) As is customary, we'll head to a pub after for refreshments (beer, juice or water, it's up to you! Protein after the workout is always good for morale) and to get to know your fellow members better... which makes it more fun doesn't it? So come on by and have a great way to start the week! Chatting with your fellow club members, forgetting about starting another week, etc... | |||||||
