UPDATE:
Location change to Mt Shark. Not enough snow at Pocaterra. We'll carpool to the Barrier Lake Visitor Center to meet the Instructor before heading to the location.

I'm following up to the X-Country Ski Intro with this one to firm up our skills and play in the snow a bit more.

This on snow class features a progression of activities to help you learn level terrain skills. Emphasis is on diagonal stride and double poling techniques. There is no prerequisite for this introductory class.The program is designed for adults but teens (13-17) accompanied by a parent are more than welcome. We will eat lunch in a heated building with running water.

You need to self-register for this course at the U of C Outdoor Center.

The course fee is $55 + tax.

Withdrawal/transfer before Nov 30, 2008 is subject to a $10 fee. No refund or transfer after this date.

Note: Rent XC skis at a 50% discount for this course at the Outdoor Centre. Call 220-5038 to book your gear. You will need to know your height and shoe size.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:DRIVING FROM CALGARY: Take Highway #1 West 70km to Highway #40 (Kananaskis Trail) Continue south for 10 minutes where you will see Barrier lake information Centre on the right. *Allow 1hr driving to the Visitor Centre. (another 45 min to Mt Shark from here)

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $75.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, April 19, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
