This event is mainly for the WCT wanna-go particpants but others who want to train are welcome. You might see some people pre-registered for this event. We will be walking as a group with laden backpacks Minimum 40lbs I have a weight scale!

Note that a backpack is a MUST. Pack your pack like you would for a 7-day backpacking trip. Put in the sleeping bag, tent, cooking paraphernalia, 2 litres of water, clothes, food for 7 days, novels, boom box, teddy bear etc. Get used to the bulk too.

See Event Checklist

Those without a backpack will be asked to carry the water cooler that Ben has, loaded with chocolate cake and cases beer, balanced on their head, Indian style.

The Plan:
This will be a hike/walk loop with a loaded backpack. Easy pace, we're going at the pace of the slowest person. We will head to Bowness Park from Edworthy and do a loop. Bring Lunch, we'll eat on the trail . After the event we'll reward ourselves with more beer at a pub, if we stil have the legs to get there.....

Pre-Requisites:
- Ability to carry a loaded backpack over a considerable distance.
- a Minimum 40lb loaded Backpack (I have a weight scale!) Best to load your pack with stuff (with 7 days worth of food) you'd bring on an actual overnight camp. If you're lighter, you're only cheating yourself (This is training after all), if you're heavier, good for you!
- Bring Icers and walking poles if you have them. Yaktraks are actually perfect for a trail like this

Required Items to Bring:
- water
- lunch
- appropriate clothing
- your backpack, loaded up with stuff you'd bring for a 7 day trip.
- Icers and poles
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

- whatever else you need.
- six packs of beer for weight (just kidding!)
