One of the objectives of the Calgary Outdoor Training Program in 2009 is to provide educational sessions where members can learn about different aspects of the outdoors. I've recruited the help of Amy Barnett a BSc, RKin, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA)from Stride Evolutions to give us tips on selecting a proper shoe(i.e.differences between hikers, hiking boots, and trail running shoes)/knowing when a shoe is "done" and needs replacement. Amy will also talk abt hiking bio mechanics - techniques for walking up/down hills/drops, specific strengthening exercises geared toward hikers, and tips for injury prevention in hikers. At the end of the presentation we'll allow time for questions. | |||||
