From the parking lot we will head out along Barrier Dam to the opposite shore. We will then climb the Prairie View Trail to the fire lookout at the summit. The lookout offers an excellent view of the Rockies to the west, the prairies to the east (including the Calgary Skyline), Barrier Lake, Chiniki Lake, and Ghost Lake.

Please note that there will be snow on the trail so bring gaiters and icers.

Head west on Highway 1 for approximately 67km. Turn south onto Highway 40 for approximately 8.7 km. Trailhead is at the Barrier Dam picnic area.
