There was some amazing snow at Sawmill today. Soft, fresh powder and tons of it.
We started off following the snowshoe trail to the turnaround point, then found another trail that some enterprising and hardy soul had broken up to a point where we had a great view to the southeast. After a very quick break for lunch beside the snowshoe trail, we started back down the other side. Too soon, we found we were nearly back to the trailhead but fortunately, found another interesting side trail that managed to test our snowshoeing skills, thanks to the nameless gent that we met who had forged a path up the hill.
Our expected 5 km ended up being closer to 9 km with an elevation gain at least doubled (approx 250 m).
Thanks to a wonderful group of people for making this a fantastic day! Keep your snowshoes handy!
