Mon, Aug 1 2005 - Reader Rock Gardens/Elbow River, SW (View Original Event Details)

This is an interesting hike that includes a great deal of diversity through a variety of parks and neighborhoods. The map (according to someone else's instructions) is a little hard to follow in places - we made a slight detour and then got back on track further down the trail. For an urban stroll, I think a little more time would be helpful in order to get through the entire route, take photos, and appreciate the surroundings. Some of us felt rushed. Too bad part of the Reader Rock Gardens is closed off while under construction. Hmmmm . . . . perhaps another COC volunteer opportunity.
Was a great group of people out today! You all were a real pleasure to hike with. Not mentioning any names - but it has been suggested that next time we plan to stop for some skinny dipping along the Elbow River.
The snacks at the Talisman were a welcome end to a day that had become quite hot. I know - for you Easterners - it was a dry heat and just a pleasant day in the park. Chico enjoyed the ketchup snacks - packaging and all - until several people took it upon themselves to dig them out of his mouth.
