This is the beginning of the peak period of the south-bound migration for eagles and other raptors and is a favorite interest of mine, and I was very pleased to be in the company of four other avid eagle watchers to assist the researchers for the day.

What a great day!! We loved the sun and warm temperatures -- although Peter insists that cold, miserable weather produces many more eagle sightings. Never mind - - we were very pleased and satisfied with our 18 eagle sightings along with misc other birds, bugs and butterflies.

We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and learned a tremendous amount from both Peter and Cliff, the researchers on site today. Thank you again to everyone who signed up and came out - and welcome to two new COC members. I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Thank you to Peter for sending a summary of activity for the full day today. In total - 37 species were recorded for the day, including:
33 golden eagles
7 sharp shinned hawks
2 cooper's hawks
1 red tail
1 bald eagle
1 marsh wren
1 stag moose
