Wow! I am in love with this hike. Easily in the top 5 of my top 20 special hikes (had to add 10 more to keep them all together). Two souls braved the elements to camp at Lake Louise (well not really - a 26' trailer isn't exactly roughing it). The rest of the team arrived in the morning after a harrowing drive through torrential downpours on the highway. We began the hike under cloudy grey sky and cool temperatures. Two other souls camped in Takkakaw falls campground Friday night as well and after spending a wet cold night decided to head east to find some sunshine rather than continue on with us. We allowed this only after we extracted payment of home made cookies and chocolate covered cranberries. We took a small break at Laughing falls before beginning the climb to Twin Falls. Through a break in the trees the falls sprang to life much to the group enjoyment. We had lunch at the base of the falls not staying long as it was cool and wet. Our next stop was at the top of the falls we were stayed to enjoy the views and take some pictures. We thought we had hit the pot of gold from where we were, little did we know what awaited us further up the trail. When we arrived at the lookout the group was blown away by what we saw. 360 degrees of gorgeous mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and forest greeted our eyes. We paid our respects to Jean Sharp at her memorial before descending back to laughing falls and the return to our vehicles. Congratulations to Adrian Jonker for being voted "Most promising new coordinator" for the COC - well done Adrian!
