Sun, Aug 18 2013 - Paget Lookout and Sherbrooke Lake - slow pace (View Original Event Details)
|
This hike offered a lot of variety; an old fire lookout with great views, a beautiful mountain lake and a waterfall. Add in great weather and a fun group and it added up to a fantastic day.
The initial 500 m climb over 3.5 km to the lookout seemed to go by quickly, the trail had a good grade. It was a WOW moment when we arrived at the lookout and saw the views. We stayed for 20 minutes or so for a snack, to take pictures and to soak in the view.
We returned partway down the trail to the well marked sign that had initially indicated right for Paget Lookout and left for Sherbrooke Lake. We arrived at the lake after about 1.5 km. We all admired the beautiful shade of blue and within a few minutes we were skirting the lake to the far end. About 15 minutes from the end of the lake we arrived at a large waterfall where we had lunch. The trail along the lake and to the waterfall had a few eroded sections that required careful footing.
We admired the lake views for the return. After the hike, we went to the Lake Louise village for ice cream,
A big thank you goes out to our drivers Rita, Bonnie and Doug. And thank you to everyone for making this such a fun day. Laura L
