Sat, Oct 12 2013 - Sulphur Mountain via Cosmic Ray Road (View Original Event Details)

Red sky at morning means take warning, usually to prepare for the not so good but for us today, we took the red sky at morning that we saw on our drive west, as a good sign. The day started out colorful with the sky and that continued along the trail with the autumn yellows, oranges and golds being vibrant. Our group was colorful and vibrant too and that made for a fun day. For the amount of distance and elevation up the Cosmic Ray Road, we made great time. We spent an hour and fifteen minutes visiting the summit. Some went to the terminal building to enjoy their lunch while others first went up to Sanson Peak and then on to the viewpoint beyond the helicopter pad for their lunch. We regrouped at our designated time and then began our descent back down the Cosmic Ray Road. We had no snow at all to contend with nor was there any wind to interfere with our mountain top visit. Our route was sparsely populated with people but offered an abundance of scenery. Thank you all for sharing this day with me and for making it an enjoyable time in our mountain playground. Thank you to Leonard, Marina and Bill for driving.
