What an amazing day to spend in the mountains. Our drive out on Highway 1 was uneventful until we saw the clouds building over the mountains. Highway 40 was another story. Falling snow made the road conditions less than ideal and a few slippery sections quickly had the drivers shifting to 4 wheel drive. All of the new snow made for incredible ski conditions and a challenge for wax which continued throughout the day. The group moved off at different speeds and took advantage of the morning conditions. Questionable directions from the co-ordinator resulted in a mix up for the lunch location that Simon and Rhonda fortunately figured out. The group gathered at the "unofficial" lunch location and proceeded to enjoy the trip back to the busy Pocaterra hut.
