A dedicated group of 27 hardcore COC’ers braved the cold tonight to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Once everyone had settled in, we kicked off the evening with a brief celebration in recognition of Mark's 100th event with the COC, presenting him with a custom made milestone cowboy hat to mark the occasion. At the conclusion of the festivities participants gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Big Testicicles lead the way with a solid 7-3 performance followed by I Want A Beer and 100 Under Mark who finished with identical 5-5 records. After a quick match of "rock, paper, scissors", 2nd place was awarded to I Want A Beer. Finally, Bloodsport earned 3 victories in 10 tries to finish fourth.
In the semi-finals, 100 Under Mark made quick work of I Want A Beer, sweeping them in 2 straight games to advance to the gold while a tie breaker was required before Big Testicicles could earn their spot in the championship final with a 2-1 win over Bloodsport.
In the medal round, Bloodsport rebounded nicely with a 2-0 series sweep of I Want A Beer to salvage a bronze while a thrilling tie breaker was required between I Want A Beer and 100 Under Mark to determine a tournament champion. When the final buzzer eventually sounded, 100 Under Mark had weathered the storm and captured the gold! Congratulations 100 Under Mark on your hard fought Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
