Season 6 Week 21

Tonight we kicked off our Tuesday night spring season at St Stephen Junior High School with a perfect sized group of 28 enthusiastic COC’ers who gathered together to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. The Team With The Golden Gun lead the way with a solid 7-3 performance followed closely by Blue Man Group (6-5), Average Joes (5-5) and last but not least, the not so lucky Luck Of The Irish who managed just a pair of victories in 10 tries.

In the semi-finals, Average Joes weren’t looking to average as they swept Blue Man Group in two straight games to advance to the gold while cellar dwellers Luck of the Irish gave top ranked The Team With The Golden Gun a good scare but failed to pull off the upset, losing in 3 games to the tournament favourite.

In the medal round, Blue Man Group recovered nicely to salvage a bronze with a 2-0 series win over Luck Of The Irish while The Team With The Golden Gun held off Average Joes to capture the gold. Congratulations The Team With The Golden Gun on your well deserved Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
