A fantastic crowd of 35 enthusiastic COC’ers gathered together at Stephen Junior High School tonight to once again compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Blue Magoos lead the way with a 7-3 performance followed closely by No Big Deal (6-4), Team No Name (4-5-1) and finally Spring Fever at 3-7.
In the semi-finals, both series ended quickly as top ranked Blue Magoos made quick work of Spring Fever, sweeping them in 2 straight games to advance to the gold while Team No Name fell 2-0 to No Big Deal.
In the medal round, Team No Name forced a tie breaker but fell short of the bronze after a heartbreaking game 3 loss to a more determined Spring Fever squad. Meanwhile in other action, No Big Deal completed their perfect 4-0 playoff run with a convincing 2-0 victory over Blue Magoos. Congratulations No Big Deal on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
