Season 6 Week 26

Another great group of enthusiastic COC’ers gathered together at St Stephen Junior High School this evening to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of team bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 24 round robin match ups.

Each team played 12 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. It was an extremely tight race as three of the four teams finished with 7 victories! The Green Team earned top spot with a 7-3-2 result while Red Bulls & Finch settled for 2nd at 7-4-1 and the Skins came in 3rd with a record of 7-5-0. Last but not least, Blueberry Pancakes hobbled into the playoffs with a dismal 1-10-1 performance :(

In the semi-finals, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. Cellar dweller Blueberry Pancakes gave top seeded Green Team a good scare but failed to advance to the gold while the Skins outlasted Red Bulls & Finch to earn a spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, Blueberry Pancakes were finally put out of their misery after dropping their last 2 games of the night to bronze medalists Red Bulls & Finch while the Skins needed a tie breaker to get by the Green Team and capture the gold! Congratulations Skins on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
