Our group found this walk, one of many "Jane's Walks" being held this weekend, very interesting. Councillor Druh Farrell gave us a lot of insight into the Peace Bridge, why it is located where it is, the dollar amount in perspective (and it was not over budget as popularly thought), and the architect's reasons for the design and colour. Then we learned more about the revitalization of Memorial Dr including the planting of trees, there had been a bower of trees in the past. We learned more about Poppy Plaza by the Louise Bridge and heard from the architect on that project about the weathered metal used and the design. The tour ended at the Soldiers' Memorial, that has over 3000 names engraved on it.
