Season 6 Week 28

Another great group of enthusiastic COC’ers gathered together at St Stephen Junior High School this evening to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of team bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. It was an extremely tight race with several matches ending in draws. When the dust finally settled, Yellow Fever and Bad Decisions finished with identical 5-4-1 records but top spot went to Yellow Fever due to their winning record versus Bad Decisions. Beyond Blue Bonnet Ball Bangers came in 3rd with a 4-4-2 result, while Hiro’s Heroes finished last at 3-5-2.

In the semi-finals, Beyond Blue Bonnet Ball Bangers made short work of Bad Decisions sweeping them in two straight games while cellar dwellers Hiro’s Heroes upset top ranked Yellow Fever in three games to earn a spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. Yellow Fever’s bad luck continued as they lost their second tie breaker of the evening, this time to a more determined Bad Decisions squad. Meanwhile in other action, Hiro’s Heroes completed their Cinderella story finish with a 2-1 victory over Beyond Blue Bonnet Ball Bangers to capture the gold! Congratulations Hiro’s Heroes on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
