Write Up:Fabulous day - cool but dry on the way up with no wind at all on the summit. And what a great group to hike with on my first event in a quite a while. Considering the number of times I have been up Prairie Mountain, I was amazed that I could still learn something new about this peak. Until this trip, I did not know where the "rock" tree was. For years I have been hiking up this mountain and passed ancient sea coral from the Devonian period... which I like to refer to as "George Stroumboulopoulos" Coral (thanks to Wendy our geologist). It was particularly enjoyable being able to find a lovely spot close to the summit for lunch, rather than having to hurry down to the "wind" cover of the trees. Thanks everyone for a great day - hope to hike with you again.
