Sat, Oct 25 2014 - MTB West Bragg Creek: New Northern Flow Loop and Old Southern Flow Loop (View Original Event Details)
|
Awesome fall riding day with a great group.
The North and South Flow loops are a stark contrast to one another. The North Flow Loops are mostly rolling type hills w/ only one sustained long climb up Merlin View, while the South Flow Loop is mostly straight up climbing and straight down descending. Lots of climbing was the order of the day, but the payoff was excellent descending off both Loops.
I'm sure many people have their favorites, but for me the descents coming off the South Flow Loop were the best with Sugar Momma and Boundary Ridge being the highlight for me. Sugar Momma, although an un-official trail, is an all-natural type terrain with awesome flow and little bits of tech thrown into it, while the descent off Boundary Ridge is a high speed flow ride with swoopy, smooth corners with little bits you can hit and caroom off of. That being said there is something to be said about the descents coming off of the North Flow Loop: Long Distance and Braggin' Rights are pretty decent.
Total distance was 32 km and 1230 m climbing, taking 4 hr and 15 min including 1/2 hr of breaks. Hopefully we might get a few more rides in before the snow flies.
Until next time, keep the rubber side down!
