Season 7 Week 3

Our final event of 2014 drew a nice sized crowd of 24 enthusiastic COC’ers each of whom were excited to compete for the Dodge Ball Cup, the most coveted prize in all of COC sports and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of team bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each squad played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Teams jockeyed for position throughout and when the dust finally settled, Blue Crush found themselves on top with a 6-4 result, finishing just ahead of the Red Velvet Ninjas at 5-4-1. Third place went to Money Backs at 4-5-1 and last but not least, the Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers finished with a 3-5-2 record.

In the semi-finals, top seeded Blue Crush made quick work of cellar dwellers Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers defeating them in 2 straight games to advance to the gold while 3rd ranked Money Backs upset 2nd place Red Velvet Ninjas in a tie breaker to earn their spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, the Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers captured the bronze with an impressive 2-0 sweep over a stunned group of Red Velvet Ninjas while top seeded Blue Crush suffered a 2-1 loss to a more determined Money Backs squad and had to settle for silver. Congratulations Money Backs on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
