Can we say skiing in summer conditions??? With the forecast in Calgary for this weekend an unbelievable +16C, and news on skierbob.ca that it had been raining in Canmore, it seemed like snow conditions for today would be anything but ideal. It was +7C as we approached Highway 40 and +4C at the Elk Lakes parking lot. Somehow, though, skiers who had already done their early morning stints to Elk Pass emerged with smiles and reported that the snow was cold. Tracks were still in very good shape, wax worked well, and there was no debris. It was like skiing in summer. We ended up splitting into two groups, with two members enjoying the sun for some lunch, while three of us pressed on to Elk Pass. It took us 8 minutes to come back from Elk Pass to Blueberry Junction, and a mere 15 minutes to cover the next 3km. What a blast on my absolute favourite stretch of trail out in PLPP. Thanks to everyone for joining me, and a big thank you to Lisa for driving.
