Season 7 Week 7

For the second time in as many weeks we set a new season seven attendance record as 43 eager participants (including 8 new members) packed Vincent Massey School tonight to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. The Nuggets lead the way with an impressive 7-2-1 record followed by Superstitious Malicious (6-4), Dodging Divas (4-4-2) and last but not least Throwbocops, who despite finishing at 1-8-1 demonstrated great enthusiasm and spirit!

In the semi-finals, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. The Dodging Divas got by Superstitious Malicious 2-1 while the top ranked Nuggets narrowly escaped being upset by Throwbocops before advancing to the championship final.

In the medal round, Superstitious Malicious salvaged a bronze with a 2-0 victory over Throwbocops while the Dodging Divas, after dropping the opener, stormed back to force a tie breaker and eventually upset the top seeded Nuggets in 3 games to capture the gold! Congratulations Dodging Divas on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
