Season 7 Week 10

A nice sized crowd of 31 gathered together at Vincent Massey School this evening to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. The Green Mile and Red Mile jockeyed for position throughout the tournament and when the dust finally settled, Green captured top spot with an impressive 8-2 record while Red settled for 2nd at 6-4. Meanwhile, another thrilling battle was raging between the Colour of Gold and Dodgin' Blueberries who each finished the round robin with identical head to head and 3-7 records. As a result, a tie breaker match was held and third place was eventually awarded to the Colour of Gold .

In the semi-finals, both series ended quickly as the top seeded Green Mile made quick work of cellar dwellers Dodgin' Blueberries to advance to the gold while the Red Mile knocked off the Colour of Gold 2-0 to earn their spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine the winner. Dodgin' Blueberries outlasted the Colour of Gold to earn a bronze while the Green Mile, despite dropping game 1, rebounded quickly with 2 straight victories to steal the gold from the Red Mile. Congratulations Green Mile on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
