Write Up:
A decision to run the event was made late in the day as the sky cleared and the sun was shining.
We had the course to ourselves and everything was looking very rosy.
Duane got off to a great start with a par on the first hole and a birdy on the second.
Kristen started with a tough first hole (+3), but quickly turned things around with 6 straight pars.
Ken was also in great form with 6 pars on the front nine.
I was quite happy to be at +2 after nine holes.
Unfortunately Thursday’s weather forecast proved fairly accurate as we ventured on to the back nine.
The sky transitioned very quickly from scattered clouds to a threatening overcast.
First the winds came, taking control of more than a few throws, especially on the 12 hole.
Then the rain! A tolerable sprinkle at first, but gradually ramping up to a steady downpour.
No lightening or hail happening so we endeavoured to plug on and finish the game.
When we finished the 18th hole the rain stopped and we were thoroughly soaked.
I’m certain the wind and rain affected our scores a little but we still managed to crack a few good jokes and some fun laughs.
The back 9 did proved challenging in comparison to our great start on the front nine. For the record;
Today’s top score: Duane: +10 (Front Nine 0 ‘par’, Back nine +10)
Second Place; James: +12 (Front Nine +2, Back nine +10)
Third Place Tie: Kirsten +14 (Front Nine +5, Back nine +9)
Third Place Tie: Ken +14 (Front Nine +4, Back nine +10)
I would like to thank Kirsten, Duane and Ken for joining me and making this a very memorable outing.
Cheers, James VB
