Write Up:It was a welcoming sight to drive through the open winter gate and then see some blue sky and
no snow for the start of our hike into Rae Lake. Trail conditions were dry the entire way so no
need for gaiters or microspikes. There was no snow to contend with anywhere. It was a
pleasant surprise too, to have better than forecasted weather conditions. We did experience a
few light showers upon our return but those did not last long. Rae Lake was very quiet, it was
looking like Tombstone area would be busy with backpackers and Elbow Lake was bustling.
The open gate means many more opportunities for adventure. Wishing everyone a fun, safe
