Write Up:
All went really well. Weather cooperated except for a bit of a chilly wind here and there. We had a well matched group and the beginner friendly moniker ensured a couple folks had the opportunity to get back into things easy. For the benefit of future coordinators this was a good format that allowed a loop south along Bill Milne, onto the Wedge Connector, then down the fire road to the Evan Thomas day use parking lot. A very short walk across the road put us back on the Bill Milne trail back to the car for a loop a little over 8km. This could be extended by a couple km if you include the trail to/from the Wedge Pond parking. Outhouses are located at Wedge or Evan Thomas. This allows a break at the car before the northern leg. It also allowed a couple of participants to sit out the second leg having had enough distance already. The second leg to the north is about 8km return to Mount Allen Drive (Nakiska turn off) but it can be treated as an out and back to enable a go at your own pace, or turn back whenever satisfied. We turned back a short way before the Nakiska turn and ended up with almost a 14km day. Otherwise it should have made a 16km day.
