A peaceful morning with lovely company! We arrived to find only a few cars already parked. When we made our way towards the trailhead there were others so it was worth starting early. It seemed like everyone else was going up Prairie View so we were on our own going counter- clockwise towards Jewell Pass. Sarah kept us moving at a youthful pace, which meant we got our workout.

We stopped upon reaching McConnell Ridge but didn't ascend to the viewpoint at the top right away. There were no other hikers stopped here so we enjoyed the view and our snacks alone except for a marmot who amused us with his nearby antics.

Next we went to the actual summit and took more pictures before making our way down Prairie View. The initial descent was difficult because there had been drizzle and the rocks were very wet. Most of Prairie View is wide and was muddy but the wildflowers were in bloom and made it a delight as well.

Thanks everyone for joining me for my first event of the season. Hope to see you again soon.
