Write Up:This is a great route for a sunny winter day. From the parking lot at
Elbow Falls to the trailhead, the Westerly wind was brisk, but it
disappeared as soon as we were in the trees. The sunshine stayed with
us, pushing the temperature up to 5 degrees C by early afternoon and
making the numerous snow-covered meadows a real treat. A half dozen gray
jays graced us with their presence during lunch on the Prairie Creek
side, hoping to catch a few fallen crumbs. No snowshoes or spikes were
needed until that last 3 Km along Prairie Creek, where there is a lot of
ice and the snow on downslopes was slushy. We were back at the parking
lot at 2:20 PM.
