There was 6 inches of new snow when we arrived on the Smith Dorrien before the snowplow making parking a little tricky. We started out the hike up to Gypsum Ridge around -6 and warmed up to 0 by the time we were done. The trail was packed down pretty good. The creek crossing was effortless but the steep sections were a little harder and slippery. It was a very popular trail for humans and dogs. The ridge offered a beautiful view of the Kananaskis Lake.
It took us a bit longer with the fresh snow so we didn't get to hike the BlackShale Suspension Bridge. The plow made it difficult for one of our cars to get out of our parking spot. Luckily there was a group of young men with a truck and a winch to pull us out.
Congratulations to Tram in completing her first COC event!
