Write Up:The groundhogs on today's hike saw their shadows so that would mean
there is another 6 weeks of winter coming. The conditions felt like
an early spring would be more likely.
The tunnel mountain trailhead parking was closed as it was an ice
rink. We parked at the Banff Arts Centre and walked down to the
trailhead on icy sidewalks. The start of the trail was icy but as we
got higher it turned to dirt with intermittent icy patches. The view
of the mountains and Town of Banff were breathtaking.
We stopped for lunch at the summit and basked in the sun. On the way
down, the ice had gotten softer and the dirt was a bit muddy.
We weren't able to enjoy the snow sculptures as they had melted with
the warm temperatures of the week.
