Write Up:What a gorgeous day for snowshoeing. Earlier in the week the area
received most of a foot of new snow, and an additional inch last
night. That made for a winter wonderland on this route that provided a
little bit of everything: lodgepole pine forests, open meadows, and
the sun poking out as we topped out on the ridge between Powderface
and Prairie Creeks. The sun stayed with us for the rest of the day,
warming the lunch spot and brightening the trek out along Prairie
Creek. Breaking trail slowed our pace, but it was steady, and we
finished up back at the parking lot just before 3:00PM. It was a real
treat to actually snowshoe the entire trail. We only saw two others
the whole day, trail runners going the other way, who were happy to
have our packed-down trail to follow out for the last half of their
