Write Up:The thermometers were reading sub -20C when our merry band of four set out at 9:30am
and it definitely felt arctic for the first kilometre or two, but it warmed up surprisingly quickly.
The trail was in great condition with a bit of fairly fresh snow on top of an already hard-
packed layer. There were two frozen streams where traction (or careful treading) was
needed. We did not see the old car wreck mentioned in the AllTrails description, but we were
treated to a lot of fresh animal tracks. Fun fact: there are a few pockets of cell service along
the trail! After two hours hiking we reached the Saddle where Powderface Creek Trail,
Powderface North Route and Powderface Ridge Trail intersect. We continued another
kilometre on the Ridge Trail and stopped for an enjoyable lunch in the sun. The return hike
went by pretty fast and the event concluded with some well-deserved high-fives. Thanks to
everyone for coming out for this weekday adventure!
