Wed, Jan 29 2025 - Ha Ling Peak - Moderate Pace (View Original Event Details)

A very small group of attendees (two) took full advantage of sunny and unseasonably warm conditions to climb Ha Ling Peak. We left an almost empty Goat Creek Parking Lot at 10:25am to start climbing immediately into the trees up the shady trail. There was very little wind for the first hour of hiking, but once we got close to the first set of stairs it definitely picked up. It was the very blustery at the saddle and some care had to be taken at times not to topple over! A good route to the top was pretty easy to find and we got there at 12:29pm. Total time to the peak was approximately 2 hours.
We stayed at the top as long as we could - it wasn’t overly cold, but the wind was ferocious! After a few minutes to take in the view, we made the descent down to a nice sheltered spot at the top to the lower stairs to have lunch. From there it was a fairly quick hike down. We reached the parking lot around 2:15? A lot earlier than I predicted.
Overall, a great day to go climb a mountain.
