What a day to go cycling! Five of us set out at 10:41am under sunny cloudless skies from the Winter Gates near Sandy McNabb Equestrian Centre. It was already shorts ‘n’ shirt weather and there were quite a few other cyclists taking advantage of the snow-free closed road.

We were treated to some pretty nice downhill sections and challenging climbs, as well as incredible mountain views and the occasional glimpses of deer, sheep, ravens, ground squirrels, bald eagles and the rare American Dipper.

We were indeed able to cycle all the way to our objective: Junction Creek Trailhead roundabout - just after noon.

At roughly 12:30pm we re-grouped at Sheep River Falls for lunch and sat at the waterfalls for a very relaxing break. After half an hour it was sadly time to head back. The ride back was definitely a bit easier and we returned to the gates around 2:00pm.
