Write Up:This was a new adventure for me so finding the PROPER meeting area was my first challenge. Only 2 out of our group 10 were apparently in the "right" parking area (ha!) and I've updated the directions.
Anyhow . . . I love this hike! It's one I would definitely do again (and again) - it felt like we were away from the city, enjoying lovely backcountry trails, wildlife, and all the delightful smells and sounds that go along with it. The circuit we completed today (8km) is a good workout. I'm glad that I followed the map outlined in "Calgary's Best Hikes and Walks" since I'm not familar with the area. Another time perhaps we can do further exploring. As it was the circuit took us 2.5hrs to complete.
Gas prices . . . BAH! . . . we are discovering some fantastic alternatives to the drive out to the mountains and crowds that come along with it. Several of us finished up at Primal Grounds for lunch. Great food and very neat atmosphere - however REALLY BUSY on weekends.
