The week starting was wrought with anxiety. The weather forcast had predicted rain, loads of rain and maybe some snow/sleet thrown in.
However the day in Calgary dawned nice and clear. We met at the carpool location and a quick count of the number of the total people from the two groups heading to the same locations for the day. going added up to 15, so we decided to merge them.
It was a wee bit cool at Grotto but it stayed dry throughout. We got to see the pictographs at Grotto, kinda tiny but still visible.
After Grotto, lunch in Canmore at the Grizzly Paw was the next best thing. Filling ourselves with, drinks, food and mirth. It was definitely a highlight of the trip :P
After lunch, arriving at the Grassi Lakes trailhead, we had a tough decision to make. The Easy route or the More Difficult one? After racking our brains, we decided we had to uphold the honor of the COC and take the difficult route. This turned out to be a wise decision as it was also the most scenic way up. Waterfalls, a great view of the town and valley Canmore sits in. And finally we arrived at the lake. It was every bit as pretty as advertised.
Many people made new friends and all in all a very pleasant day.
