Write Up:
After anxiously watching the weather forcast for a whole week, we decided still to go ahead despite the prospect of doom and gloom. There was enough people that was still interested to make the trip worthwhile. On friday, Ian, Beth and Ben made the journey down to the campground whilst the rest of the gang followed suit on saturday. Those who went on Friday, what a treat! Once we reached Lethbridge, the dark skies parted faster than you could shout yippee! Friday evening at the campsite was gorgeous. That is one beautiful place to camp. I am wondering why Indiana Jones or someone didn't make a movie there. Beth had a huge and awesome tent. Ben is envious and wants to get one. Ian had a trailer which was really handy later. Ian arrived in the middle night, couldn't find us in the pitch black, grabbed the nearest available site and caught up with us in the morning. The next day dawned bright and clear. After a yummy breakfast, we headed to explore the hoodoos and took loads of pictures. Thank goodness for digital camera. I'd hate to think of the bill if it was film. We spent a lot of time posing like wannabe models. The girls were particularly fetching and having a whale of a time posing for pics on the rocks. Ben must have set a trend hiking and scrambling amongst the Hoodoos in rubber Wellington boots! (They are comfy and waterproof!) Meanwhile, Harry, Melanie and Linh had arrived and was setting up camp. Harry and Linh headed for the guided tour to the ancient rock art site whilst Mel decided to wander among the chimneys of rock. In the evening, Ian and Beth bbq's some great looking steaks on the woodfire. Just as we finished, the heavens decided to some moisture our way and spent and unforgettable evening playing Cribbage, Poker and 99 in Ian's camper. The next morning after breakfast and breaking of camp, we played more games! Bang! was fun but Pit was roaringly hilarious! And the adults got beat by the young 'uns. Figures..... Till next time!
