Considering the weather forecast, today turned out to be an ideal day for this hike. We geared up at the trailhead (it was cold for sure), and started along the trail. The sun peeped out a bit, and the temperature warmed up. Had to delayer along the way even though there was some ice & snow on the trail !!!!

A wide trail allowed our group to walk side by side x 3 – rare for a trail, and very nice for great conversations all the way to the lake :)

Lo & behold, out of nowhere..... boom was the lake (pun intended !!!) Boom Lake is a big impressive lake with Boom Mountain right in front. Lots of snow on the mountain, and you could see a storm on its way in or just hovering on the peak of the mountain. It rained very very lightly at the lake. We stopped and had lunch – warm liquid was very welcoming. The wind picked up a bit at the end of our lunch, and we headed back. If one is looking for a sheltered trail with a great reward at the end, then this is the hike for you!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Daniel & Kevin to the COC – I hope you enjoyed your first outing !!!!!

Encounters on the trail: Birds, blue grouse, other hikers and their pets, snow, ice, small amount of rain, lots of smiles & laughter !!

Thank you for joining me on my hike, and snowshoeing is just around the corner !!

Happy Trails & Happy Thanskgiving :)
