The Great Divide trail is actually a snow-covered highway (old 1A Hwy). It is relatively flat and usually trackset, making it an excellent place for novice skiers to practice or for expert skiers to train. The snow comes early here and the road requires only 20-30 cm to be skiable. At the Great Divide's trailhead, there are toilets, picnic tables, and shelters. A dogsled operation runs on its own track for the first 2 km., so bring your camera!.

After the event, we will be stopping in Banff for dinner.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Follow the TransCanada (Hwy #1) west towards Lake Louise and take the Lake Louise exit. Follow the signs to the Chateau Lake Louise hotel. You will now be on Lake Louise Drive, which climbs from the lower town site of Lake Louise towards the Chateau. After several kilometres, the road takes a sharp turn to the left to make its final climb up to the Chateau. At this point, proceed straight ahead and park in the ploughed lot. It's just past Moraine Lake Road on the right. Drivers note: I will have my cell phone with me (Bruce: 403-837-2022).
Note: We will likely stop for a coffee/bathroom break in Lake Louise (Lagan's Bakery/Samson Mall) before continuing on to the event.
