Distance: 8.7-11KM
Elevation gain: we go up the hills 150M five times
Proper hiking footwear(sorry no runners)

If you don't have time to head out to the mountains & are looking at getting your exercise "fix" with a quick hike at a moderate pace that's close by, then this is the hike to sign up for. The entire area is hilly, including approximately 5+ hills that are rated by the conservation area as being "STRENUOUS" to climb (~150 metres each), with elevation gains & losses.

The Conservation requires donations of $2.00/person for the maintenance of the area.

This conservation area consists of 4,800 acres of rolling, foothills land donated for the protection of wildlife habitat.

Required Items to Bring:
-Conservation requires donations of $2.00 for the maintenance of the area.
-Gaiters(with the snow melting the trail will probably be muddy)
-Snacks + water(1L min)
-Hiking footwear
- Dress in layers

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Somerset LRT, drive south again on Macleod Trail & exit out of town on 22X westbound(Marquis of Lorne). If you drive by Spruce Meadows you know that you're heading in the right direction. Shortly after the city limits sign, watch out for 160th Street. Immediately turn left(south) on 160th SW till you reach the Conservation Area. Even though the park gates may be open, you are required to park at the lower parking lot.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $10.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Thursday, March 28, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
