Itinerary:
Join us to celebrate Ed's 89th Birthday - today is his actual birthday !!
This is a slowpoke hike, and we will be making many stops for photo ops and of course, birthday wishes !!!

Note: Karen D is coordinating the event, and Marg is coordinating the carpool.

Elevation Gain: 220m
Approximate Distance: 14 km

We will park at Johnston's Canyon Parking Lot and walk (1.4km) to the Moose Meadows trailhead where we will wind our way up through the forest to the Ink Pots. The Ink Pots are the outlets of seven cold mineral springs, fed by rainwater and snowmelt that has percolated into the surrounding bedrock. Two of the springs run murky due to the sediments disturbed by the rising water - hence the name Ink Pots. It is extremely important that we stick to the trail here, as the natural vegetation is fragile and cannot withstand constant trampling.

After lunch, we will return via Johnston Canyon.

ICERS are MANDATORY - Parks Canada informed me that these trails have lots of ice on them - If you do not have icers, please do not sign up! Yaktraks will not be sufficient.

After we hike, we'll be heading somewhere in Banff or Canmore for snacks and refreshments. Please do not be in a rush to get back to Calgary - our return time will be approximately 8:00PM.

Please only register if you intend on joining us. Should you need to cancel, please cancel before the registration cut-off time (Thank you.)
