Once you have registered with the Glenbow, THEN sign up on COC. Other important information, please read carefully: * Sign up only if you are serious about attending. We must have a minimum of ten people for this guided hike to go ahead. We are allowed a maximum of 15. * The Glenbow requests a donation of $10 minimum per participant and that payment can be made upon arrival. Exact change is appreciated. From Foothills Parkland to terrain more reminiscent of Alberta’s Badlands, this 3 hour walk will provide you with a variety of important and insightful information about the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. The Badger Bowl and Lily Loop trails takes the most in depth approach of the West Loop Tours and places emphasis on the diverse ecology that can be found within the park. The route that is taken offers a glimpse of how the park has become home to a multitude of wildlife. The unique geology of the Bow River Valley and a pristine environment has allowed the Ranch to become a sanctuary to animals of all kinds. The large size and ideal location of the park has allowed a number of Alberta’s wildlife to co-exist in an almost unnatural abundance. As a result, throughout the tour you will be presented with opportunities to view a number of animals in their native habitats. The tour will also cover a brief history of the people who have lived and worked the Glenbow Ranch, as well as insight into how the tiny village of Glenbow was able to develop and disappear in less than half a century. The history of these early pioneers may be short, but the impacts of these individuals can still be seen today. PLEASE NOTE: As these tours are part of the programming offered at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park by the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (the non-profit organization working with the Government of Alberta to build Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park), tour participants are encouraged to help support the continued development of these programs with a donation (recommended minimum of $10 per person). Please note that the Park is not yet open to the general public except by guided tours such as these. | |||||||
